(By the way the plastic "whizzer" whistles left in the Forum are courtesy Mike Dauenheimer, I-Con Alumni Track leader. These kinds of whistles were an I-Con tradition for a couple of years.)
Jim and I were talking about how much the new Forum resembles the old Forum when it was in the basement of Central Hall (SAC). Of course most of the older shelving in the forum now I think dates from that time (late 80s).
The room in the Union has the same lighting problem we had in Central Hall. Fortunately back then no one cared too much about the basement of Central Hall so we just got up there and drove anchors into the concrete ceiling and hung up fluorescent lights. In the Union I'm sure the powers-that-be would freak out if you tried that now.
One thing that struck me as I walked around campus was that there is a *shitload* of construction going on. (With all the rain during I-Con I imagined that's what Mudcon must've looked like!) JAM mentioned that there are plans afoot to renovate the Union as well...so will the Forum have to move AGAIN??
This diaspora bullshit has got to stop. Might be time to start lobbying for a more permanent space for the Forum.
Meeting Opens: 7:00pm

The largest one is Pillow Fight NYC, an insane five-thousand-strong brawl of pain-free melee held usually (and this year) in Union Square. Costumes, general cleverness and intent to amuse are recommended but not required.
For those of you who use it for event management, the facebook event page, and for those who'd like to get their dance on afterward: the official "after party" event.
I'm posting this because I'll be there. I won't be fighting due to a torn rotator cuff (I had a similar injury last year and only used one arm to fight; this year, I guess I'm just being wimpier), but they need tons of people to help clean up for the thousands of people who don't care about being responsible. I saw the Forum this week. It's clean. This obviously means that a Pillow Fight with raging Forumites will be cleaner than one without. ;D
Also, if you're not in the area, consider checking that first link above to see if it's happening in a villa near you.
Meeting Opens: 6:57

Secretary: The forum has been really negative lately, which is a bummer. We should try to be less mean to each other. Not nice, just less mean (if you’re going to leave marks not in a place that shows).
Head Ac: We got a lot of shit done. Philosophy club event went well, we watched Gattaca. Dodgeball against the LGBTA next week during campus lifetime. Zombie movies will be shown in conjunction with HVZ. We will watch all of our horror movies after that. ICON will happen.

Notes and Comments:
- Jim Fremkel apparently changed his name at some point after this was taken.
- Lyn Kohlmeier ... yum!
- I think that sign lasted at least a decade after this, because I vaguely remember seeing it in pictures much later on.
- Anybody know what building is in the background?
Also, the Regatta effort is pretty staggeringly good this year. They have most of the material needed to do the job, and Fishman designed a scale model. I uploaded some shots of it to my "2011H1 SF4M Spring" Facebook album. You can see it (and other stuff from the Forum) here.
Also, a scan of the Statesman article can be found here on our server. These scans were not downsized, so they're pretty gigantic. I'll probably take care of that later on. My general strategy is that I put smaller versions online and burn originals to optical disk if people request them.
Also, I took off from work today so I could come to work in junky clothing and mess around on the Internet with photos and scans. Hooray! :D
